Week 3 Update
Hello all, this is the AZTECHS’ CAD Lead, Landon! Team 6479 has been having a blast this season so far! As you may recall, weeks 1 and 2 are about breaking down the game and prototyping, this past week, week 3, is where we get deep into the CAD of the robot, that is, the 3D modeled Computer Aided Design. Last week, we decided what the robot would do and what it would like - this week was all about making it real.
Say Hello to CHAGNE! (A note from the Business President, this is a name given lovingly to our robot by our CAD team, not our official robot name)

Drivetrain
The single most important subsystem, allows us to drive and move around:
Ground Intake
Allows us to pick up FUEL from the ground and into our robot:
Hopper
Allows us to store FUEL and move it through our robot:
Indexer/Shooter
Takes FUEL from the hopper into the shooter, launching it into the HUB:
Thanks for checking in, see you all next week!
And this week, we also have a blog post from our business team!
Howdy!
I’m AZTECH Robotics’ Finance Director, Damien Robinson. In this week 3 blog, I’ll be covering how our business team has been hard at work these past weeks, working on the different FIRST Awards, planning, planning, and planning a bunch of outreach events, and still finding time to write some grants and look for ways to raise funds for our awesome team!
FIRST Awards
Our team has been hard at work writing (and constantly editing) our Impact Summaries.
These summaries cover questions that FIRST gives us about our impact in the community and how we connect to FIRST Values.
Doesn’t seem too hard, right? It wouldn’t be as hard if there weren’t a 500 CHARACTER limit (Including spaces and punctuation) for each one of the 14 answers. Having to fit everything our team does in such a small sample is really difficult!
Rainbow Robotics
As many of you know, AZTECH Robotics has been working with It Gets Better to run a new initiative called Rainbow Robotics!
With this initiative, the amount of outreach in the community for our team has exponentially increased. We’re doing the same number of outreach events in one WEEK as our team would do in the entire YEAR in past seasons
We’d love even more support from our team, so tell your students to keep their eyes peeled for notifications with the different events!
Grants
As finance director, my job primarily consists of writing grants to companies on behalf of our organization to help us raise funds to continue to do what we do best—Robotics!
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been plugging away at my laptop, trying to get our team 3-D filament, money, and maybe even a sponsorship from Sunny-D or AriZona Beverages!
Please feel free to reach out to me at damien.robinson@team6479.org if you see any opportunities for our team to receive a sponsorship or grant!
Thank you so much for all the food, snack, and drink donations! Our team always appreciates being able to have a snack, drink, or lunch at our meetings!
Hoping for your continued support and good luck on the business side of our team’s journey,
Damien Robinson
